News from the THOR community

Dear readers,

Welcome to our third edition of the THOR Project Newsletter.

In this issue, we are excited to share some important milestones and updates from across the THOR community and beyond.

We begin with our very first journalistic feature: “Time is power: how faster battery testing could boost Europe’s edge — and the planet“. This article explores how accelerating battery testing processes could offer Europe a strategic advantage in the race for sustainable energy innovation.

Next, we turn to project developments, starting with a look back at the recent Consortium meeting, held this past May at the Flash Battery headquarters. This gathering was a valuable opportunity to align progress, exchange ideas, and further strengthen collaboration among partners.

On the scientific front, we’re proud to announce the publication of THOR’s first peer-reviewed paper, which presents updated ozone depletion characterization factors based on the 2022 WMO assessment.

We also spotlight some key events from recent months! The Battery Safety Day, where our partner INERIS shared their expertise, showcased best practices and innovations in battery safety, and the first webinar of the TwinBatt cluster, uniting THOR with the sister projects FASTEST, AccCellBat and DigiBatt.

We’re also very pleased to welcome a new sister project: BATMAX.

As we just moved into the second half of the year, we look forward to building on this momentum. Stay connected for more updates, results, and insights from the THOR project and our growing ecosystem on Mastodon and LinkedIn!

Warm regards,

The THOR Project Team
